Chamari Athapaththu underlines her superiority as one of the Wrld’s best. Epic 195 sinks South Africa in world record run chase.  – BY TREVINE RODRIGO IN MELBOURNE.  (eLanka Sports Editor) True grit and a never say die attitude is what champions are made of. Sri Lanka is definitely blessed with one in brilliant Chamari Athapaththu who single-handedly steered her country to a massive victory over South Africa while breaking many world records along the way with it. While on reflection it is a sad occasion in many ways, Ondray’s family representing St. Joseph’s College Nugegoda and Bertie Ekanaike from home town school St. John’s College Nugegoda, have joined forces and choose to celebrate his life on this day between the respective schools. Bertie Ekanaike was instrumental in the initial pairup, after deciding to first felicitate his old school, then accepting Ondray’s proposal about a joint event between the two Nugegoda schools 15 years ago. Ondray never lived to celebrate the second event. Thus began the ...

SUNRISE AND SUNSET – A MEMORIAL FOR GORDON COORAY – By Bernard VanCuylenburg. There is an old saying that “Good friends come into our lives too late, and leave too early”. Antonians of a younger generation may have only heard of Gordon Cooray by name. Citing my own example – I joined St. Anthony’s College in January 1951 and Gordon left college in 1953 or 1954. I only made Gordon’s acquaintance when I came to Australia 6 months short of forty years in this country. But it was forty years in which I found that Gordon by virtue of whom he was, made the world a better place for me and many others.
