We came to know each other during World War 2, well remembering Sunday 6th April 1942 when the Japanese raided Colombo. We were a close knit family and hold many memories, both happy and sad that came our way on life’s journey. I remember Freddie as a handsome young lad very energetic who loved his sports and Therese for her beauty as she was known as the “Belle of  Dematagoda.” This bonding continued with Fred, his wife Therese and family even after we migrated to Australia.
