Let us discuss today why kidneys get damaged in people having uncontrolled diabetes.
Diabetes is a leading cause of kidney disease, and sometimes referred to such kidneys as ‘Diabetic
kidneys or diabetic nephropathy
It is estimated that 40% of people living with type 2 diabetes may develop kidney disease.
Sri Lanka too is seeing an increase in the cases of diabetes and the risk of getting kidney disease is extremely high, in addition to the risk through pollutants and germicides used in rice cultivations.
How does uncontrolled diabetes affect your kidneys?
High blood sugar damages blood vessels in the body, that includes blood vessels in your kidneys The sugar that is present in the blood vessels being glucose derived from the dietary carbs is the culprit that cause the damage to the inner lining of the blood vessels.
Normal fasting range of blood sugar varies from about 85mg/dl (5.6 mmol/L) to 100 mg /dl.
A level from 100 mg/dl to 125mg/dl (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) is considered prediabetic.
In uncontrolled diabetes the sugar level can rise even more than 200mg/dl. The blood vessels tend to thicken, and plaques are formed causing blockage to the blood flow to the organs, including kidneys, extremities, and your brain.
When the blood supply to the kidneys get diminished due to arterial blockage, they cannot filter blood like they should, which results in waste products build up in your body. The kidneys make hormones and controls your blood pressure.
The damage to the kidneys is a slow process, and unless your doctor does some blood tests and urine analysis during the early stages it will not be detected for a long time.

The is a terminal situation where the heart muscle pumping system gets weaker, and the blood circulation gets affected. The brain gets disorientated, Lungs becomes congested with incoming venous blood for oxygenation, the body swells starting from your feet, and kidneys start failing. It is a terminal condition which can be reversed if detected early.

The incidence in Australia is high- over 10,000 cases per year, when medical treatments are at its best compared to most other countries.
In Sri Lanka, heart failure incidence from heart disease is extremely high compared to the more developed countries. One reason is that coronary procedures (such as angioplasty/stent and bypass surgery) are carried out in Sri Lanka, it is not financially affordable to most Sri Lankans. For instance, a coronary bypass surgery costs around $2000 whereas the average income of a Sri Lankan is around $3362 per annum.
People do not seem to realize the seriousness of the condition through neglect, until the terminal stages are reached. The best of treatment facilities may not suffice during the irreversible stage.
It is common after the age of 60, more common in women than men.

Overview: Frightening experience
This film was done 20 years ago.
The desire to fly over the rock and film some captures was my dream.
So, we paid $311 to book a four- seater plane from the Air Force, in Colombo.
After booking, the three of us, self, my wife, and Arun Dias Bandaranaike, drove to Hingurakgoda, to the Air Force base.

The plane and the pilot were waiting for us.

‘The pilot and Arun Dias sat in front, well protected by glass to avoid the breeze,
whilst I was sitting by myself, at the back both sides open and the wind blasting
through me and getting the feeling of blown out.

It is mandatory to enjoy a drink at the end of the day to wind down, or at gatherings to relax and enjoy the company, at functions, weddings, celebrations, and so on.
Just imagine what a party would be without alcohol. It would be like a pub with Throughout the 10,000 or so years humans have been drinking their own fermented brews. They
were then hunter gatherers, and at the end of the day a home- made brew would have relaxed them to enjoy with their families.

There are people in sri Lanka still believing that most edible mushrooms sold in the markets, could be poisonous and hesitate purchasing. Yes, there are thousands of varieties of mushroom, naturally found and grown, and most of them are poisonous. Today, there are popular varieties of farm grown mushrooms available in the markets, and they are guaranteed to be safe for consumers. No cases of poisoning or death have been reported in sri Lanka in the recent past, to our knowledge. Heart burn is a symptom you feel, when stomach acid backs up or refluxes into the esophagus, or I mean your gullet the food pipe that connects the throat with your stomach.

The gullet is more friendly to alkaline foods because your saliva which gets mixed with your food you eat is more alkaline.

A new report in JAMA found that eating even small amounts of eggs daily significantly raised the risk for both cardiovascular disease and premature death from all causes in nearly 30,000 participants. And the more eggs they ate, the higher their risk for coronary heart disease, stroke, and heart failure.
This is what we are going to discuss today, and attempt to unravel the confusion
If you have a cholesterol level concern, the first step and the solution would be to improve it, and not deprive yourself of eating an egg daily.
About five decades back your doctor would have asked you not to eat eggs, as they are a ball of cholesterol that will cause plaques in your coronary vessels to cause coronary heart disease. About 200 mg cholesterol is found in the York of each egg.
That myth was debunked, and U turned about three decades back
