Sri Lanka eclipsed in pulsating thriller. New Zealand complete clean sweep – BY TREVINE RODRIGO IN MELBOURNE (eLanka Sports editor) Beaten but unbowed, Sri Lanka engaged New Zealand in an epic decider which ended in a heart stopping Kiwi win with a ball to spare. The Islanders left New Zealand shores with a semblance of their reputation restored. After a torrid tour in the Tests and one-dayers, the Lankans redeemed some pride going down 2-1 but after a much better effort where the home team had to work hard for their success. New Zealand had a clean sweep in all formats indicating their steady rise in the world rankings and the revelation there is no lack of talent in both batting and bowling as some regulars were missing making big money in the IPL. A final analysis will suggest the Lankans were comprehensively outclassed by a stronger opponent. The Queenstown ...

“THE PERILS OF PLASTIC” by Des Kelly Everywhere one looks, thru the “Periscope of life”, trouble abounds. Humans are now contemplating reaching out thru “the black-hole” to find another Planet, on which to start new waves of trouble. Earth is steadily becoming too small, and, too weak to stop all the hazards that confront us daily. In Australia, however, nothing seems to concern the folk who follow eLanka with grim determination. It was only the plastic-condom that has prevented our dear Lankan/Aussies from manufacturing MORE Aussies, thereby increasing the “sales” of much more plastic furniture for indoor, but mainly outdoor use. These simple bits of furniture have caused lots of problems, especially for the male gender. I am not going to “spoil it” for you, still I love Aussie humour, the subtle type, where one has to think deeply about what it’s all about. So, here goes my preference of ...

THE GOVERNOR’S LOVER – by Des Kelly Image Source : scontent She was indeed the Governor’s lover, and here is the true story of part of the early history of Ceylon. The rather quaint reason for this most fascinating naming of the famous Suburb, Mount Lavinia. Whether he did or not, and the number of times this Governor had his way with this Ceyloness Maiden is uncertain. It depended on the fact of whether or not, the Governor’s was around, I suppose, but thanks to Keith Bennett for sending this in. MOUNT LAVINIA,  an apt name for this beautiful and sexy Suburb. Go there & reminisce the next time you visit SriLanka.   Desmond Kelly (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief.   e’Lanka. ...

“GOLD-FEVER” – by Des Kelly My thanks to Chris.Lawton O.A.M., for sending in yet another remarkable video which actually disproves the fact that we come into this World with nothing, and leave with nothing. This rich dude featured, ensured that he did want more personal jewellery on him, when he went, than anyone else in his Country (I would dare to presume EVERYONE else owned). However, the rest of his wealth left behind, is something to behold. I have never seen this fantastic accumulation of GOLD & JEWELS before (in pictures) & decided that very few of us in fact, have had, either, so please enjoy this video folks & remember that, as each of you grows old, protect yourself from so much gold, gold, gold !!. because you still cannot take MOST OF IT WITH YOU, when you go. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka. Gold ! Gold ! Gold ! ...

Sri lanka cricket Captain Dasun Shanaka – By Nivran Weerakoon Source : Nivran Weerakoon linkedin   captured in the image below is one of the most understated persons who played a pivotal role in scripting a triumph that could potentially restore the old glory of Sri Lanka Cricket. Dasun was never earmarked as a future captain. When he became the captain last year, he was not even a permanent fixture of the team. What amazes me is how cool headed Dasun is and how he fearlessly took on the leadership role in the midst of a number of challenges including a number of match losses prior to the Asia Cup, with the exception of the Australian tour of Sri Lanka where Sri Lanka won. Amazing lessons of key leadership traits for any emerging leader to emulate can be observed from Dasun’s approach on how he gradually built a young team, picking ...
