The Peterite annual dinner dances every year appears to be gaining in innovative creativity as was witnessed at the ‘Casino Royale’ themed event this year which drew a sellout crowd at the Grand on Cathies Lane in Wantirna.

The talented OBU of the boys from Colombo 4 produced yet another spectacular show which drew together mostly old boys of the school and their friends and supporters all aptly dressed up for the occasion in debonair fashion. And the ladies made sure that they not to be outdone to make it a colourful night that will remain etched in the minds of those who were there.

The hardworking Dance committee led by President Prasad Algama and comprising, Tyrone Le Mercier (70s group), Anushka Perera, Grehem Vandersay, Rohith Kurukulasuriya, Jerome Chandrasekera, Sean Ekanayaka, Malika Perera, Valentino Perera, Chanaka Perera, Ramesh Gooneratne, Tony Martin, Niroshan de Cruze, Kevin Joseph, Gayathra Liyanaarachchchi and Fairley Wijesinghe put together a well thought out program which included a sexy dance troupe which entertained guests to a Casino Royale styled presentation that was breathtaking.

The décor and lighting were planned to perfection in sequence with the theme, giving the venue an ambience that matched the title of the night.

Dinner was excellent as usual with the Grand, headed by former Peterite Shanaka (Jude) De Silva ensuring that the menu was top class. Top Melbourne dance band Rap-So-D with Ashok and wife Allison Jayasinha were in scintillating form and had the dance floor packed to capacity. Their superb variety of music kept the tempo at its peak throughout.

Emerging band The Batterii did well to fill in as the second group and ensuring that there were no flat spots in the music dished out. Two of the established members of the band are Dulan Kodikara and Shehan De Silva who hung up his sound balancing duties to showcase his other talent as a guitarist.
