Following consultation with the Australian Government, CA previously postponed the ODI series against Afghanistan scheduled for March 2023 after a marked deterioration in human rights for women and girls in Afghanistan, stating we would: “Continue to engage with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in anticipation of improved conditions for women and girls in the country”. Over the past twelve months CA has continued to consult with the Australian Government on the situation in Afghanistan. The government’s advice is that conditions for women and girls in Afghanistan are getting worse. The Tasmanian allrounder was the competition’s leading run scorer during the home and away season, finishing with 914 runs at an average of 65.28, including three centuries. In addition to his 914 runs, Webster took 26 wickets at an average of 28.46 with a best bowling performance of 4/32 against South Australia. The award is voted on by the on-field umpires, with both umpires giving 3-2-1 votes from each match.
