Appeared on stage shows presented by Tina Maria, Priya, Decima and Malcolm Andree at the Atlanta and the Kandy Lake Club. Then went on to sing with various pop bands – “The Sombreros”, “Sound Tracks” and a few others. In 1966, I was invited by Nizam Adahan to listen to a band called the ‘Spit‑res’ – at rehearsals – where he was the lead guitarist. I tried out a song with Conrad de Silva, who was their male vocalist and our voices blended in harmony… well that was the beginning of “Conrad & Budrin with the Spit‑res”. That’s what he was, to put it modestly. A household name in most professional areas he worked in. UTA or United French Airlines was one of his favorite work places. It is said that sometimes Buddy had to work the full day in the city office, n thereafter go to the Airport to assist in the flight operations.  Being ALWAYS immaculately dressed, he did not want his well creased trousers to look worn out, especially at the airport with the UTA Stewardesses being around. Being practical, in the afternoons he slipped out of his trousers and sat in his underwear behind the counter unnoticed by the walk- in passengers, and put them on, the way to the airport. Obituary: BUDDY MUSAFER – passed away – by Sohan Pieris   A very very sad day for all musicians in SL today. He was not doing well for a while and believe it or not he could not talk – lost  his voice.. We were very close as friends and musicians. I was devastated to hear the news. His elder brother Hassan who was a superb drummer passed away about 6 months ago in Hong Kong. This pix was taken in Australia during one of our tours that I will treasure.
