“A VIDEO TO WATCH” – by Des Kelly   Sung by the man who wrote the sing, Kris Kristofferson, backed by dozens of other Country Music Artistes, if this video does not bring a tear to your eye, I would be very surprised indeed. It was both written and recorded in 1972 by K.K.on an album titled “Jesus was a Capricon” and went on to be the biggest hit in his career. This beautiful Country Gospel Song was inspired by another, with practically the same title, “Help me, Lord”, written by another Country Star, Larry Gatlin, and recorded together with the future wife of Kristofferson, who was the beautiful Rita Coolidge. ...

“LEGS ELEVEN” – by Des Kelly           Compliments of Charmaine Gunatillake and Keith Bennett, this both very interesting AND very important “post” comes walking in, to us, at e’Lanka. Unfortunately, it was just a little bit too late for this writer, who is, right now, the “guru” of isolation simply because my legs and feet refuse to let me walk more than a few metres because of an ailment that has got to be pronounced while totally sober. This is the Mother of Arthritis, called Ankylosin Spondylitis. Anyway, thank goodness I can still write a little. I will now rest my briefcase and once again say “thank you” to Charmaine and Keith, and let these boots keep walking back to you, good folk of e’Lanka. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief)  e’Lanka. Walking *Aging   starts   from  the  feet  upwards !*     KEEP  YOUR   LEGS  ACTIVE  &  STRONG  !! As  ...

“AS WINTER BECKONS” – By Des Kelly Charmaine Gunatillake has written a very good piece of advice for all of us. “And, then, it is Winter,” clearly shows,  Each and every one of us follow the four Seasons, Spring, when we are born, Summer, as we go thru life, it’s good and bad, happy and sad, Autumn, the age of retirement, to either reap the benefits of a life well lived, or, end up bankrupt, sad and sorry for ourselves, financially speaking, to “finish-up”, “As Winter Beckons”, cold, homeless, and sleeping on the Streets, somewhere. This is sometimes, the reality of it. Finally, as Winter makes it’s way thru life, as Charmaine says, WE DIE!!.It all sounds very final, but folks, it is the Gospel truth. We are born, we live, we get old (only to be thrown on the scrapheap),in many cases, and then we  “cark-it”, as they say in Australia. I think ...

Secret Of Love – By Des Kelly Another interesting story from Charmaine Gunatillake, especially featured on eLanka, to show us, briefly, as she puts it, the “Secret of Love”, which I would reiterate in yet another simple three word slogan, “Love conquers all”. This is “easier said, than done” folks, because, after all, we are mere human beings, the word “revenge” is common amongs’t us, and put into practice, every time some ill comes our way, from another human source.  Charmaine’s story however shows us that God, the Almighty wants us to change our ways. Because HE is the God of Love, HE wishes to divulge the “Secret of Love” and this little story depicts a few ways of doing exactly that. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief).  eLanka. Secret Of Love  No matter where you are in life and no matter what troubles you have been through, I encourage you to put ...

“VARIOUS VAGARIES” – By Des Kelly I have indeed seen the name Charmaine Gunatillake come up from time to time with these snippets of interesting information, and this is no exception to the rule. The English Language, being, in my opinion, one of the most important Languages on our Planet, today, is sometimes used however, in a manner that is “strangeness personified”. It was stranger still, in ancient times, but, as a man by the renowned name of Richard Shakespeare said, “This blessed plot, this Earth, this Realm, this England”, I do reckon that he was pretty sure that “old Blighty” was the “cream of the crop”, “Various Vagaries” or not.       To the many thousands of eLanka readers, please do sit back, read, and try to figure out the reason why these quotes and bits of information, these idiosyncrasies were even thought up, & were these vagaries the work ...
