Antonians of a younger generation may have only heard of Gordon Cooray by name. Citing my own example – I joined St. Anthony’s College in January 1951 and Gordon left college in 1953 or 1954. I only made Gordon’s acquaintance when I came to Australia 6 months short of forty years in this country. But it was forty years in which I found that Gordon by virtue of whom he was, made the world a better place for me and many others. River cruise by Five Schoolboys from St. Anthony’s College Mahaweli River Cruise by 5 Antonians in the 1950s. Shane took me to the mouth of the Mahaweli River after many years where our Great Mahaweli canoe Trip ended at MUTUR. The road & Bridge were not there & the memory of our final day is as vivid as ever. Five Schoolboys from St. Anthony’s College carried out & completed an adventure that was treated as the impossible. MEMORIES & TRIBUTE TO AN ANTONIAN TEACHER – Mrs Chandra Bandaranaike (1925 -1960) – by Tilak Pananwala    Mrs Chandra Bandaranaike (nee Kulatunga) was a Teacher at St Anthony’s College, Kandy from 1951 to 1960. Her younger brother Cecil Kulatunga now domiciled in Sydney, Australia is a distinguished product of the college passing the University Entrance exam and obtaining a BSc (Eng.) degree from then University of Ceylon, Peradeniya.
