Upul Mahen – Mellowing Breeze – Listen to the entire CD   Upul Mahen De Silva launched his CD on 2 of October 2017 at Thornleigh Community Centre. Visharada Nanda Malini, Dr Rohana Weerasinghe. Dr Victor Ratnayake participated and two duets were sung by Upul Mahen with Visharada Nanda Malini and Dr Victor Ratnayake. Songs have been written by Mr Sunil Sarath Perera, Mr Vasantha Kumara Kobawaka, Mr Maithri Panagoda, Mr Lucian Bulathsinghala, Mr Saman Athavuda Hetti and Mr Mahinda Algama. Music Direction has been by Dr Rohana Weerasinghe, and three of the songs have also been composed by Dr Rohana weerasinghe. One song has been composed by Mr H M Jayawardene and rest of the 9 songs by Upul Mahen himself. The event was attended by over 250 invitees. All graphic art work including the CD cover design by Mr Athula Kaldemulla and event was narrated and conducted by Mr Asela Jayanath.   ...

Gary and Dalrene win Gold – Story by Marie Pietersz | Photographs courtesy of the family   Gary Joseph and Dalrene Sharelle (nee Achilles) Pompeus celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary with a grand party at the Melrose Reception Centre, Airport West, on Sunday, 11 March 2018.   A thanksgiving ceremony preceded the celebrations and was presided over by celebrant Deacon Pou’kesi Vaka’uta. It included a blessing of rings and thanksgiving prayers led by the five grandchildren and god-daughter, Jeanine Pompeus, one of three god-children present. Dalrene was very excited as she described how Gary and she had waited so long for this special day and a further declaration of their love for each other. Special moments of the evening that moved her included the rendition of the love song, I found lasting love, by Sal Mineo, sung to her by Gary, the speeches by her grandchildren and the specially choreographed dance performed for them by three of the grandsons.  The 165 guests were ...

Josephians celebrate their College Feast – Photos thanks to George Rupesinghe Once again the New South Wales Josephians, families, friends and well-wishers gathered to celebrate their College Feast and enjoy the fellowship of friends on Saturday 17 March. This time at the community centre at West Pennant Hills. And once again they were fortunate in having the chaplain to the Sri Lankan community in New South Wales and prefect of games at College, Father Chaminda Wanigasena, as the celebrant. A feature of the well-attended Mass was the fervent participation and singing of the hymns. The prayers by Kumar Eliyathamby, Dylan Tavarayen, Romel Pieris and Eddie Correra gave thanks and remembered the past Rectors and teachers together with the present staff of the College.
