They are living there. The history of the temple is intertwined with the history of this people who lived a long time as a nomad being expelled from one place to another. The Zabbaleens are descendants of farmers who began to migrate from Upper Egypt to Cairo in the 1940s because of prolonged periods of bad harvests and extreme poverty.
