Faith Hope & Care Concert

69 PEOPLE WERE INJURED OR KILLED ON EASTER SUNDAY AT THE ZION CHURCH IN BATICALOA.

THEY WERE ALL ADMITTED TO THE ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY TRAUMA TREATMENT UNIT WE HELPED THE MOH TO BUILD. HOLLOW CONTENTMENT.

26 WERE DEAD ON ADMISSION OR SOON AFTERWARDS.

ANOTHER 4 HAVE DIED SINCE.

FIVE WERE SENT TO COLOMBO FOR SERIOUS INJURIES. THE SADDEST, A LITTLE GIRL OF SEVEN (DEBBIE) WITH BALL BEARINGS IN BOTH EYES. SHE HAS LOST THE SIGHT IN BOTH EYES AND DOCTORS ARE HOPING THE OP ON ONE EYE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL BUT NO POSITIVE SIGNS YET. BOTH HER LEGS ARE ALSO BROKEN AND HER PARENTS DIED. SHE IS AN ORPHAN NOW WITH ONLY A BROTHER (RUFUS) WHO IS 8.

LATEST NEWS IS THAT MANY ARE SUFFERING FROM HEARING DIFFICULTIES DUE TO BURST EAR DRUMS.

WE HAVE DECIDED TO FOCUS ON PSYCHOSOCIAL TRAUMA COUNSELLING FOR THE NEXT 6 TO 12 MONTHS. WE WILL BE PARTNERING WITH A RELIABLE, REPUTABLE AND TRANSPARENT ORGANISATION TO DELIVER THE SERVICES.
