Sri Lanka continued their dominance over the Afgans with this win,  but the visitors are quickly closing the gap in a format where their raw talent has taken the cricketing world by storm. Sri Lanka’s bowlers put Afghanistan to the sword in Colombo and in command to win Test – BY TREVINE RODRIGO IN MELBOURNE (eLanka Sports editor) Sri Lanka’s bowlers wreaked havoc on Afghanistan, bowling them out for 198, and then raced to 80 fo no loss on day one of the only Test at the SSC stadium in Colombo. It was a day out for the fast men as Vishwa Fernando and Asitha Fernando combined with spinner Prabath Jayasuriya to unravel a potent Afghanistan batting line-up in just over half a day to set up what appears a historic first Test win against the visitors. Sri Lanka scramble home in a nail biter – BY TREVINE RODRIGO IN MELBOURNE – (eLanka Sports editor) Sri Lanka took a 1-0 lead in the T20 series against Zimbabwe, but the win was an unconvincing last ball thriller despite chasing a mediocre target. Adding to the drama was the questionable Angelo Matthews player- of- the match award for his face saving 46, despite a great allround performance from Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza that should have been rewarded despite being at the losing end. Bangladesh and questionable umpiring make for a sad day in cricketing history.  Sr Lanka bow out of World Cup. – BY TREVINE RODRIGO IN MELBOURNE.  (Elanka Sports Editor). Shakib Al Hassan and Marias Erasmus sensationally made cricketing history by making a blotch on the Spirit of Cricket adding insult to injury to Sri Lanka who confirmed their exit from the World Cup with a three wicket loss.  The combine brought back bizarre memories of the 1980’s when Austrlian Umpires Darrell Hair and Ross Emerson took centre stage by embarrassing Sri Lanka’s greatest bowler Mutthiah Muralitharan,  by calling him for chucking. Angelo Matthews added to Sri Lanka squad replacing Pathirana. – BY TREVINE RODRIGO IN MELBOURNE. (eLanka Sports editor) Sri Lanka’s desperation to be competitive in the World Cup has seen the dramatic inclusion of Angelo Matthews to the squad replacing injured paceman Matheesha Pathirana as a substitute.  The veteran,  who has a wonderful record in all formats for a considerable period,  was rushed in as a travelling substitute for injured Skipper Dasun Shanaka and Pathirana and any other players in the foreseeable future.
