Universities Join British Council’s Inaugural University Youth Climate Ambassadors Initiative Several leading Sri Lankan universities have partnered with the British Council Sri Lanka for the agency’s inaugural University Youth Climate Ambassadors programme. Announced at a launch event at the BMICH on Monday, 11th August, the initiative seeks to empower Sri Lankan youth in higher education to shape a climate-resilient future through skill building, partnerships and networks. The launch event was attended by university students, academics, climate advocates, policymakers and senior leadership from the British Council. British Council Sri Lanka recognises leading Cambridge English Registration Centres The British Council Sri Lanka hosted an awards ceremony recently, to recognise top Cambridge English registration centres for their valuable contribution. The event was organised to appreciate and recognise the British Council’s Cambridge centres for the many years of service and significant contribution towards exam registrations and support extended to grow the business through value addition. The ceremony also recognized 74 students of Sri Lanka and Maldives who have scored full marks for Cambridge English examinations administered by British Council Sri Lanka in 2024. In appreciation of their outstanding performance, several registration centres received special accolades. British Council presents ‘Youth-Led Green and Inclusive Businesses’ at ‘Pathways to Sustainability: Entrepreneurs’ Showcase’ Event The British Council Sri Lanka celebrated the successful pilot phase of the ‘Youth-Led Green and Inclusive Businesses’ project to commemorate the 2024 International Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) Day.  The ‘Youth-Led Green and Inclusive Businesses’ project equipped young entrepreneurs with knowledge, skills, resources, and networks, and aimed to transform existing businesses into greener and more inclusive models. The event, titled ‘Pathways to Sustainability: Entrepreneur’s Showcase,’ marked the culmination of the project. Thirty young business leaders from Sri Lanka had the opportunity to present progressive steps undertaken by them towards making their businesses greener and more inclusive with innovative solutions as well as network with key stakeholders and advocate for common causes.
