SRI LANKA NEWS (JANUARY 2023) Compiled – by Victor Melder. The Police Narcotics Bureau in operations conducted in 2022 along with other security forces agencies has arrested 46,258 people related to drug offenses. During the raids conducted in 2022, 1,548 kg of heroin were seized. The value of the seized heroin is over 20.9 billion rupees. Also, the police have raided around 200 places near schools where drugs, intoxicants, intoxicating toffee chocolates and other sweets were sold. Police continue to conduct these raids on information received that the school students are addicted to various types of drugs including ice (crystal methamphetamine) drugs, narcotic pills and intoxicating sweets.
