The event was 30 days past the due date on Australia Day which has now become contentiously tagged Invasion Day. So, we all ventured down South in the cool of early Autumn to Ingleburn for the scheduled 8.30am start for the Classics, wishing it were Hambanthota instead. Sri Lanka Lions Premiers In 2018 The Srilanka Lions Sports Club won the NSW Classics Cricket Competition for over 50 cricketers organised by the Sydney Masters Cricket Association in New South Wales last Sunday 11th March 2018 in a very close game against the Burwood Briars Cricket Club played at Monty Bennett Oval, Wentworthville. Burwood Briars got 179 for 4 wickets in their 40 overs & the SriLanka Lions reached their target in 38 overs. This is the premier cricket tournament for players over 50 years in Sydney. There are sixteen ( 16 ) teams in this competition which is played on turf wickets with many teams having ex-Grade cricketers. The SriLanka Lions finished up with 376 points followed in second place by last years Premiers Georges River Cricket Club with 368 points.
