Australian players registration data for the 2023-24 season showed that Singh was the most registered surname with 4262 entries while 2364 Smiths were registered. Further emphasizing this growth, South-Asian surnames Kumar, Patel, Sharma and Khan among the top 16 out of 494 registered players on Cricket Australia’s players registration portal “Play HQ”. This significant trend highlights the growth in South-Asian registered participation has also impacted by Pakistan’s red ball team’s recent tour to Australia, which contributed to increasing these statistics.
