Obituary: NAVARATNAM – VIMALA (MAIZIE) NAVARATNAM – VIMALA (MAIZIE) (1934 – 2024). Vimala (Maizie) Navaratnam (nee Bartlett), 89 years of age, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away on May 28, 2024, with her loved ones by her side. She was the proud mother of Atulan and Arunan and the widow of Ben Navaratnam, the love of her life. Vimala or Amma (“mother” in Tamil and Singhalese), as she was affectionately called by more than her children, was born in Sri Lanka on October 18, 1934, the youngest of ten children. Amma married her beloved Ben in 1962. She immigrated to Canada in 1988 where she established many long and loving friendships. Amma took special joy in her family and had a fondness and wonderful talent for cooking and baking.
