NIHAL FONSEKA – international tenor Nihal was a star athlete and boxer at St. Peter’s College Colombo in the 50s. He always won the Pole Vault event at the sports meet. Nihal took the leading role iunder Douglas Ferdinand’s direction in “Trial by Jury” opera presented by SPC. It was a huge success. Nihal was Sri Lanka’s leading tenor who turned international in the sixties going forward. Immigrating to Canada in the late sixties, Nihal has lived in Mississauga, a suburb of Toronto. Bernadette was born Bernadette Lazzara on February 28, 1948 in Queens, New York City, to Marguerite (Maltese) and Peter Lazzara, a bread delivery truck driver. She is of Sicilian descent. Bernadette first performed on the stage as a child and then a teenage actor in the 1960s, and in film and television in the 1970s.
