Speaking to the media today, Karunatatne revealed that he had made a request in this regard previously, but had been urged by the Selectors to continue as the skipper. Stating that he has once again called on the Selectors to reconsider the captaincy following the ongoing Pakistan series, Karunaratne stated that he is willing to focus on performing as a batsman for the remainder of his playing years. “There are some players who are more suitable for the captaincy.
