QUEEN STREET, FORT, COLOMBO 1 IN THE 1960s – By Upali Obeyesekere Chatham Street, intersected by Queens Street on the west and York Street further east were the main streets that housed both businesses and homes. Bristol Street stood on York Street with its polished wooden stairway. The Globe Hotel and British India were noted for their watering services to the thirsty and weary.
