Wild elephants pull down 16 telephone posts- By Romesh Madusanka Source:Dailymirror Mannar, April 19 (Daily Mirror) – A herd of wild elephant that roamed into the Settikulam-Mannar main highway in the early hours of last morning had pulled down telephone posts causing the breakdown of telecom services in several areas. Police said the jumbos had pulled down 16 telephone posts in a distance of about two kilometres. On information from police, a team of telecom officials and employees arrived and commenced repairs to the telephone line. They said similar incidents had been experienced earlier.
