An Inspirational Message for the Month of February 2024- by Charles Schokman The World’s Rubbish Makes Fertile Ground For The Church To Grow  Ephesians 3:12-13 In [Christ Jesus our Lord] and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory. As the Apostle Paul writes this letter from prison in Rome, he is very conscious of the despair and discouragement his dear friends in Ephesus are feeling because of his situation. They would no doubt have been deeply concerned for his personal well-being. But they would also have been ‘reading the times’, and realising from what was happening to their faithful ‘leader/mentor’, that the future was not looking good for them … or for anyone who was responding to the preaching of the Gospel and putting their trust in Jesus as ...

SUNDAY CHOICE – I RATHER HAVE JESUS – By Charles Schokman “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.”-Philippians 3:18  This song was written by George Beverly Shea in 1933. He was encouraged by his mother to put music to a poem she liked by Rhea Miller. It was her hope that in putting together this hymn, her son would find new direction for his talent. And in fact he did, touring the world as a soloist with Billy Graham. I cannot hear it without remembering the joke of a former boyfriend. He said if we ever got married, he would sing this as I came down the aisle!! Image Source : godtube Today’s verse made me think of this song that says “I’d rather have ...

SUNDAY CHOICE – GIVE YOUR HEART TO THE LORD – By Charles Schokman “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.                                        Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your                        righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun” – Psalm 37:4-6 Everyone has goals in life and some we can reach on our own, but some take a little more help. There are things that we desire that only God can give us. When things are not going our way and we are turning to God for help, but He does not seem to hear us, we start to get ...

MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS. – By Charles Schokman Image Source : commons.wikimedia I came across this song quite by accident and I am glad I did as it brought back pleasant memories of my late mum singing it many, many years ago. It is a tribute to all those beautiful wives gone to be with the Lord. Hope it touches your hearts. CHORUS: If those lips could only speak If those eyes could only see If those beautiful golden tresses Were here in reality Could I only take your hand As I did when you told my name But it’s only a beautiful picture In a beautiful golden frame It stood in a beautiful mansion Surrounded by riches untold And he gazed at the beautiful picture That hung in a frame of gold Was the picture of a lady So beautiful young and fair To this beautiful life-like vision He murmured in ...

SUNDAY CHOICE – The Longer I Serve Him The Sweeter He Grows. – By Charles Schokman Image Source : slideshare May this hymn, written by William (Bill) Gaither, be found true and real in our own life: Since I started for the Kingdom, Since my life He controls, Since I gave my heart to Jesus, The longer I serve Him, The sweeter He grows. Chorus The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows, The more that I love Him, more love He bestows; Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows, The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows. Ev’ry need He is supplying, Plenteous grace He bestows; Ev’ry day my way gets brighter, The longer I serve Him, The sweeter He grows. One of the fascinating things we remember about our Christian life is our ardent passion for God when we had come to know Christ as our ...

SUNDAY CHOICE – Give And You Shall Receive – By Charles Schokman A Boomerang World: As I was sitting outside this morning sipping my coffee and watching the sun climb over the horizon, I looked down and saw a curved stick on the ground that reminded me of a boomerang. Suddenly I was caught up in memories of me as a kid, playing for hours on end in my grandfather’s backyard with a small wooden boomerang he had given to me as a gift. Remember when you were a kid, how fascinated you were with boomerangs? (At least I was!) You take this flat, curved piece of wood and throw it, then watch in amazement as it curves around in the air and comes right back to you! As “miraculous” as that seemed when we were kids, I’ve found most of our life is like that. Whatever we “throw” out there, comes back ...

An Inspirational Message for the Month of January 2024 – By Charles Schokman    Nick Vujicic Uses AI To Spread Gospel Australian evangelist Nick Vujicic is using artificial intelligence and digital media to help spread the Gospel. He’s unveiled a new initiative called Multitood which is a cost-effective video translation software solution to help expand an organisation’s reach. He told The Christian Post that: “When we have The Great Commission to preach the Gospel to all nations and make disciples, it’s more than just translating the Bible into different languages. It’s also equipping, encouraging and building the churches out there to be the hands and feet with digital content as well, that they understand in their own language” The Life Without Limbs founder revealed that two thirds of his 16 million social media followers do not speak English. That led him to develop the software which incorporates AI voice dubbing ...

“STORMS NEVER LAST”  – By Charles Schokman A SONG OF HOPE FOR THIS NEW YEAR. “Storms never last, do they baby? Bad times all pass with the wind.  Your hand in mine stills the thunder, and you make the sun want to shine.” The lyrics of “Storms Never Last” encapsulate the notion that difficulties and hardships are temporary, and love has the power to transcend any storm. Jennings’ smooth and soothing vocals, coupled with his honest lyrics, create an emotional connection that touches the soul of listeners. The song carries a message of hope, reminding us that the darkest nights will eventually give way to brighter days. Waylon Jennings drew inspiration for “Storms never last” from his personal experiences. Having endured the turbulence of a rocky relationship, he found solace in the idea that storms in life eventually pass, and love can weather any storm. Relax & Enjoy ...

SUNDAY CHOICE – The Best way to grow old together. – By Charles Schokman Image Source : quotepics You know you’re getting old when you look through your car steering wheel, rather than over it OR when you can no longer cut your own toenails OR when you and your teeth don’t sleep together. In other words, getting old(er) is not for sissies. We are in a war with ageing. The problem with that war on ageing is that it can’t be won. No one ever grows young, we wake up each day one day older – no one avoids this rule – like it or not. An easy question to answer is: what is the worst about growing old? A harder question is, what is best about growing old? Older adults are measured by the word ‘still’ – can I still drive, can I still walk, can I still chew? The good news is that ...

SONGS OF PRAISE – A hymn dedicated for the New Year-2024 – By Charles Schokman As the young minister travelled through the rugged country near England’s Cheddar Gorge, the clouds burst and torrential sheets of rain pummelted the earth. The weary traveller was able to find shelter standing under a rocky overhang. There, protected from the buffeting wind and rain, Augustus Toplady conceived one of the most popular hymns ever written, “Rock of Ages, Cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee.” In March 1776 Toplady published the hymn as part of an article in The Gospel Magazine<, which he edited. He wrote that just as England could never pay her national debt, so man could never by his own merits satisfy the justice of God. In the middle of the article, he burst into song, printing for the first time the hymn “Rock of Ages”, which so ably ...
