Good News From Jayam – March 1st, 2025 Sri Lanka Celebrates 77th Independence Day in Colombo Bishop’s College, Colombo 150th Anniversary Celebrations  Bishop’s College, one of Sri Lanka’s oldest Anglican private schools, celebrated its 150th anniversary with a Founders’ Day Commemoration Service at the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Kollupitiya. The service was officiated by Rev. Sarah Hutton, a distinguished past pupil from the UK. The Founders’ Day ceremonies marked the beginning of a week-long celebration of Bishop’s College50-year legacy. Principal of Bishop’s College, Chemali Herath with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who is a past pupil, light the traditional lamp. On the left is the Vice Principal Chrishnuka Galbadage. Rajah would have been 91 years on February 1, 2025. At 19 in 1952 he was the First Ceylonese to migrate to USA under the Mc Carran Act. He was Staff Seargent in the US Marine Corps.
