A Tribute to late Mr Sunil de Silva – by Kithsiri Senadeera   Sunil de Silva is one of the most versatile and affable persons I have met. He was a leading lawyer, stage actor, film actor, writer, public speaker, lecturer, mentor, carpenter, cook, and the list goes on. I sometimes wonder how a person possesses such versatility. I met Sunil for the first time at an AGM of Sri Lanka Association of NSW (SLA), in 1993. We became friends quickly for we had a common thread on history, sociology, political science, community services, etc. We all know Sunil is an authority on Constitutional Law, Criminal and Civil Law, including Jurisprudence. As a young lawyer, he received guidance and advice from his close relation, the late Lalith Athulathmudali, an illustrious product of Harvard (HLS) and Oxford. He said that for his first degree (B.A. London), he offered Pail, Sanskrit and ...

Covid-19 stay-at-home directives and our new spare time   With the covid-19 stay-at-home directives, we have lost many of our usual activities and most of us had to find new ways to spend our spare time. We have to explore how we would spend the time that will gain some useful knowledge and enjoyment during this period.     It is said that a favourite pastime is to recall past memories and also to gather knowledge as a ‘continuous improvement’ process at any age of our life. Therefore, I thought of providing some useful information we should know as good citizens.    Needless to say, we are indebted to our mother-Lanka, because that is where we received free education, health care, training etc. which we will never be able to pay back in our lifetime. Hence, we should know all about the geographical, socio-economic and cultural facts of our motherland.   Now we are ...

This song remembering Arhat Sangamitta Therani, was written by Mr. Reginald Alwis  was a Teacher at the Buddhist Ladies College, Colombo 7 Sri Lanka. Mrs. Shanti Hyacinth Senadeera a past pupil of the same School and an Early Childhood Graduate Teacher has kept this song in memory and  used it in her teaching profession in Pre-schools and the Dhamma School in Sydney, Australia. Intending to conserve (සංරක්ෂණය) this masterpiece of lyrics and ...
