Sri Lanka Kidney Foundation in the UK – Dinner Dance with Desmond De Silva Photos from the fund raising event in British Midlands UK on 9th February 2019.   Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) has become a serious health issue in Sri Lanka with the Government unable to cope with the treatment & management of the disease. The World Health Organisation has indicated that CKD has affected over 15% of rural Sri Lanka. This number is ever increasing with extremely limited access to medical attention, medication and or equipment necessary to treat and manage the disease. There is a desperate need to create awareness of the suffering of CKD patients. Basic needs such as transport and sundry expenses in relation to attending hospital or clinics and the need to have dialysis kits, injections and other medication made freely available to sufferers of the disease.
