    “COLOMBO CULTURE” – By Des Kelly Over 2.500 years of it. A Culture to be “cultured” with justifiable pride. Ceylon, as the Island was known, in my era, was, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the prettiest Countries on Earth. Roughly 65.900 square kilometres in area, lying right in the middle of strategic sea-lanes of the vast Indian Ocean, looking, for all the World, just like a tear-drop of a much larger”Mother India”, this Island Paradise was not only the envy, but also on the “top-wanted” lists of many Countries like Japan, who were eyeing the biggest natural harbour of the World at Trincomallee, where the largest warships of the time, could easily sail into, for security.       As for the Culture of the Country, I remember visiting the old Colombo Museum two or three times, because, even in the old days, it was impossible ...
