Jerusalem I Long to Behold (Beggars’ Choice) – Creation to Redemption, Birth in the Grace Train – by Lakshman Navaratne The numbers, tell the real story; the God of Hebrews have heard the cry of the Gentile nations, and adopted us to be his very own! This is the story of a Chosen Generation. Christianity preached by the Apostles during the first century after Christ was pure Revelation of the Risen Christ in the heart of Living humans. The faithful, were not focused on human Jesus who was the son of Mary for 30 years, until the Baptism of Jesus at the Jordon River, by the last prophet for the nation of Israel. [B] There were no Jewish prophets for the last 2000 years of humanity, yet today on earth, faithful to the God of Israel has outnumbered all other humans worshipping un-known deities. The 39 books of the Old Testament, ...

SUNDAY CHOICE – JESUS, KEEP ME NEAR THE CROSS – by Charles Schokman   How many of us can sing by heart the words of the song that starts “Jesus, keep me near the cross”? Can you recall the next few lines? More than just a song, it’s a much-needed prayer for Christians. Too many of us have an incomplete understanding of what happened when Jesus willingly embraced the cross and died upon it. We tend to think of the cross as a way for us to get more of God’s goodies, the ticket, as it were, to our best life now. Of course, there is a degree of truth in that notion: without the death of God’s Son, you and I would still be in our sins, and therefore rightfully under God’s wrath. But there’s more, so much more to it. When Jesus suffered on the cross He was ...

SUNDAY CHOICE – “Gethsemane” sung by a little girl —So Heavenly – by Charles Schokman In Matthew 21, Jesus has just arrived in Jerusalem for the final days leading up to His death on the cross. While He was in the temple, healing the blind and the lame, the leading priests and scribes saw Jesus performing miracles and even heard children shouting, “Hosanna! Praise God for the Son of David.” The religious teachers grew irate, questioning Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” “Yes,” Jesus responded to His critics, asking, “Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants you have perfected praise’?” (Matthew 21:16, NKJV). Jesus was quoting Psalm 8:2: “Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.”  Pray this hymn sung so beautifully by this little girl ...

SUNDAY CHOICE- Our Hearts Always Hunger For – sent by Charles Schokman “And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace!” – Isaiah 9:6 The prophet Isaiah describes the coming Messiah above with these words, “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace!” Jesus is the embodiment and fulfillment of this prophecy. He is the most wonderful counselor. He is sympathetic to our weaknesses and so understanding of our failings and fallings. Jesus invites us “to approach [his] throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:14-16). Do you need mercy and grace and peace this morning? “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Isaiah calls the Messiah (Jesus) Mighty God and Everlasting Father. Jesus, in essence, declared Himself to be God ...

Constitution of the Faithful Church, still on earth (Mary’s Song) DOCTRINE OF THE BLOOD By  Navaratne Christianity preached and practiced by the Apostles of Christ, clearly blames no human born of Eve, for the confusion of million paths to the Creator of life. The Apostles of Christ gave their lives to proclaim that “Christ is the only mediator between God and Man!”  Luke 1:47, my soul magnifies my Lord my Savior. Scripture documents; Mary, the mother of Jesus as a descendant from king David, and the Old Testament prophesy of Emanuel was not foreign to her. Mary knew without a shadow of doubt in her heart; the life that was placed in her womb was the seed “faith” that was lost from Adam and Eve’s Disobedience to our Sovereign Maker. Titled, “Song of Mary” was the inscription by the Apostles of Christ, as the New Testament writing, revealed to them ...

SUNDAY CHOICE – What A Friend We Have in Jesus (sent to eLanka by Charles Schokman) HYMN HISTORY: Irish born Joseph M. Scriven (1819-1896) was 25 years old, in love and to be married. The day before his wedding his fiance died in a tragic drowning accident. Heartbroken, Joseph sailed from his homeland to start a new life in Canada. While in Canada working as a teacher, he fell in love again and became engaged to Eliza Roche, a relative of one of his students. Once again, Joseph’s hopes and dreams were shattered when Eliza became ill and died before the wedding could take place. Although one can only imagine the turmoil within this young man, history tells us that his faith in God sustained him. Soon after Eliza’s death Joseph joined the Plymouth Brethren and began preaching for a Baptist church. He never married, but spent the remainder of his ...

SUNDAY CHOICE – A thought for the New Year—2023 – By : Charles Schokman But they that wait upon the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; They shall walk, and not faint. Teach me LORD, teach me LORD to wait.–Isaiah 40:31 King James Version What does it mean to wait on the Lord?    I believe it’s another way of saying that we trust God. We trust him, as Lord in Heaven, who is in control of everything, to guard our life. The promise that in Isaiah 40:31 is beautiful.  I love the imagery of my strength being renewed.  Eagles wings, running without getting tired…I’ll take it all! It’s important to distinguish the difference, though, between having our strength renewed and getting everything we want (our goals, desires or everything we ask for in prayer). When we wait ...

AN INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2022 – By Rev Bruce Stewart ENCOURAGEMENT Two large water buffaloes yoked together towed our trailer, with seven of us on board with the greatest of ease through some of the countrysides of Cambodia. The pace was slow but steady. The location was close to Kampot in the Deep South of the country. The track we were travelling on was often wet and muddy, exactly what water buffalo like! The buffaloes loved being cooled by water in the hot and humid conditions. In fact, our driver stopped every 15 minutes or so and sprayed water over the backs and heads of the buffaloes using a small electric pressure pump carried on board the trailer next to the driver’s seat, thus helping cool the animals. Next, we slowly moved to our destination through lush tropical vegetation and farming land to the “Secret Lake”. ...
