“MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THESE” – By Des Kelly             Coming to e’Lanka via Gerard Salomon and Keith Bennett, for which we thank them, is this wonderful video of a duo of supremely talented “Stars” of the silver screen, namely Rita Hayworth and Fred Astaire, the latter being definitely the Best Ballroom Dancer of his era and beyond, and the former, (although Ginger Rogers was Fred’s main dancing partner), in my own humble opinion, Rita Hayworth was, by far, one of his most beautiful partners in their dancing sequences on film. In addition to dancing, Rita, who was, I believe, Fred’s favourite dancing partner, and who can blame him, hit the movies with spectacular films such as “Cover-Girl”, in which she also danced with Gene Kelly, one of Fred’s main competitors, in hoofing it, to put it mildly.      “IF DRINKING DON’T KILL ME”!! – By Des Kelly   This came to me (I really cannot understand why) !!, via two famous Burgher buggers (only jokin, guys), Gerald Vandergert & Keith Bennett, either of whom are not averse to the odd drink or three, I think, because I, me, and myself also kinda liked the booze many years ago. Both Gerald and Keith should know (hopefully), that for the past 30 years or so, cold water is my only drink. I have not touched alcohol of any sort, don’t miss it, and have lasted as long as I have, because of it. Sounds unbelievable, I know, because, during my term with the Royal Ceylon Navy, WATER was the only drink I never partook of.
