In 1965 he graduated as a doctor -and a few years later he captained our national teams in both Cricket and Table Tennis, was a player and coach of the Table Tennis team as well as Secretary of the Table Tennis Association of Ceylon. ICC Chief Match Referee Madugalle, who stepped out of school as the Observer Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year in the inaugural year 1979, will function as the ICC Match Referee in the T20 World Cup final to be played at the MCG. Dharmasena, the Observer Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year in 1989, has been picked by the ICC as one of the two on-field umpires for the 12-nation final. Marais Erasmus, Kumar Dharmasena named on-field umpires for England-Pakistan final Image Source : zeenews.india Source : dailymirror The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Friday that Marais Erasmus and umpirewill be the on-field umpires for the Men’s T20 World Cup final between England and Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday. Erasmus was the on-field umpire for the first semifinal between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground while Dharmasena had been the on-field umpire for the second semifinal between India and England at Adelaide Oval. The selection of a 20-strong group effectively means that, for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be neutral umpires for all matches of the 16-team tournament, running from October 17 to November 14.
