ICC Men’s CWC Trophy at the MCG for global journey – By SNNI Global, Melbourne MELBOURNE, 18 July 2023: The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy landed at the iconic MCG to pay tribute to Australian legend Shane Warne. It sat underneath the newly named Shane Warne Stand and greeted fans outside the venue by the statue of the spin-king. Playing at the MCG museum was a recording of Warne, talking through his player-of-the-match performance in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 1999 semi-final between Australia and South Africa. The Peterites easily accounted for the Josephians in the open age game played early in the morning but the Joe’s stormed back to level things in the over 40’s game which followed, as a carnival like atmosphere prevailed at the Endeavour Hills Cricket Club ground.
