The English colonial architectural features of the two-storey grey stone building, include wooden staircases, high roofs, hardwood floors, fireplaces and antique furniture. Abbotsleigh Estate of Hatton Plantations conducted donations worth of 4Million for deserving students in Hatton – By Nisal Rukshan The Abbotsleigh estate of the G&G group of companies, Hatton Plantations, is situated in the central province in the Nuwara Eliya district, closer to Hatton. The majority of the population living in the suburbs of this estate are daily-wage labourers. Many school students in these needy families are having hardships due to a lack of school accessories. By considering these needs, the Abbotsleigh estate donated school accessories worth 4 million recently as a Corporate Social (CSR). The donation programs were held in simple arrangements at a few selected, convenient locations where those beneficiaries were able to attend without hindering educational or other commitments. 550 school students in the Abbotsleigh area benefited from this program. Our trip took us to the northern city of Jaffna, via the mesmerizing Anuradhapura. We explored the beautiful landscapes of Kandalama and climbed the epic Sigiriya rock. We drove south to the beautiful Nuwara Eliya and stayed at the breathtaking 98 acres resort in Ella. We experienced a safari in Yala and had some well earned R&R at the beach town of Mirissa followed by exploration of the charming historical town of Galle. We started the trip, along with my nephew’s family on the 15th of April, the day after the auspicious New Year’s Day, and drove through the curvy uphill roads, viewing the most spectacular sites, the wavy lofty hills. Our first stopover was in Ramboda at the Tea Bush Hotel, a spot where every passerby stops to view the beautiful scenery, including the Kotmale Dam in the distance.
