And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” 1 John. “Perhaps it has never occurred to you. On the other hand, maybe you are aware of it every day. But a mother is a sacrificial being. In addition to many other things, she sacrifices her sleep, her time, her career, her thin body, and her sense of “self” for her children. This doesn’t stop after the baby and toddler years. It keeps on going, in some form or another, for the rest of her life. Being a mother requires commitment, selflessness, patience, and a boatload of unconditional love.
