SUNDAY CHOICE – A Mother’s Sacrificial Love – by Charles Schokman

“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” 1 John.

“Perhaps it has never occurred to you. On the other hand, maybe you are aware of it every day. But a mother is a sacrificial being. In addition to many other things, she sacrifices her sleep, her time, her career, her thin body, and her sense of “self” for her children. This doesn’t stop after the baby and toddler years. It keeps on going, in some form or another, for the rest of her life.

Being a mother requires commitment, selflessness, patience, and a boatload of unconditional love. It’s a lot of hard, often thankless work to raise a child, which is why the mothers in your life deserve to be honoured on Mother’s Day (and every day!). Traditional ways of saying thank you — like giving a Mother’s Day gift or card and making breakfast in bed — are great for expressing your love. But for an added thoughtful touch for the religious moms in your life, nothing says “I love you” quite like a meaningful prayer.”

Pray: Praise God for your mother and the part she had in bringing you to the place you are now. Thank him for sacrificing everything to redeem us and loving us no matter what. Ask him to give you the discernment and strength to love others with that same love.

Hope this clip touches your heart.
