It is a celebration that gives you to enjoy the freedom and be expected to cope with the responsibilities that come to face adulthood challenges. It is a growing-up excitement to be celebrated. This age of 16 may last for a year, but trust me it will be an adventure with memories that will last for a lifetime. Seneli, have a great day. Happy birthday Senali. You are on your way to becoming an adult, but always remember to stay young at heart. Wishing you lots of happiness and fun in the years ahead. We hope your 16th birthday is as beautiful as you are. SONGS OF PRAISE – STORY BEHIND THE SONG “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” – by Charles Schokman Some of our best-loved hymns were written in times of great sadness. “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” is one such song. Despite the pain, many hymn writers were able to find comfort in the arms of Jesus and point others to this source of unshakable joy with their music. One of the most helpful hymns in popular use is Joseph Scriven’s hymn on the friendship of Jesus, the comforter and burden-bearer. Scriven (1820-1886) was a native of Dublin, Ireland, born in 1820. When a young man, he was engaged to be married to a lady whom he had ...

The Single Star & the Crescent Moon – Happy Eid Mubarak ! – by Charmaine Candappa The Single Star & the Crescent Moon. ( Sultanate of Oman ) 2005.   I follow the single star and the crescent moon Seeing white mosques, minarets, and a golden dome I am held captive by the loveliness of the sky at night And the single star and the cresent moon. After evening prayers the people break fast Partaking in food throughout the night hours Some in their homes, and others out in parks Coming together with friends and family, in solidarity. I follow the single Star and the crescent moon Passing mosques and minarets and moonlit domes I look with wonder at the mystic night sky Which will withdraw at the dawning light.   C.C.   ...

The opportunity in Australian housing is now!-by BERTRAM DANIEL Source:Bertramdaniel Australian housing has proven to be a resilient performer throughout all of the major crises over the past 3 decades, including the 1987 stock-market crash, the 1991 recession, the 2001 tech wreck, the 2007-09 global financial crisis and the 2020 extended lockdowns etc. In recent times Australia has had amongst the strongest population growth in the developed world and as the population expands in metropolitan markets it’s becoming increasingly difficult to bring new housing supply online. Alastair Roosmale-Cocq: Appreciations & Memories-by Michael Roberts   Source:Thuppahis VALE ONE by Jeremy Ludowyke My name is Jeremy Ludowyke and I’d like to tell you something of Alistair’s life before he came to Australia in 1969. Like Alistair, I was born in Sri Lanka, then known as Ceylon, of Dutch heritage and ancestry. The first Roosmale Cocq arrived in Ceylon from the Netherlands in 1763 and many were Magistrates or Judges in the first Dutch then British colony. Perhaps this is where Alistair inherited his magisterial bearing. The Roosmale Cocq motto is Am Omni Re Paratus, meaning I am ready for anything. A creed Alistair could be said to have lived his life by. And he would have loved the fact that I have just inveigled a Latin phrase into his eulogy. Alistair was the eldest son of Jamie and Marguerite. His father was a formidable and highly-respected man who rose through ...
