DESMOND KELLY

“SARDONIC-SATIRE” – by Des Kelly With due thanks to Ralph Baker, here is something different in the Wit & Wisdom area, to make you smile again, even though you are also growing old, like the rest of us. Please enjoy & watch this again, even if you have already seen it thrice. Remember, a smile exercises every muscle in your face and makes you look younger.   Desmond Kelly. (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief).  e’Lanka.  Sardonic Senior Pearls of Wisdom:   I’ve learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake. I’m responsible for what I say, not what you understand. Common sense is like deodorant. The people who need it the most never use it. My tolerance for idiots is extremely low these days. I used to have some immunity built up, but obviously there’s a new strain out there. It’s not my age that bothers ...

“STRANGE HAPPENINGS” (BUT TRUE) – by Des Kelly   Queen Christina of Sweden (1626-1689), not only couldn’t stand them, she absolutely hated fleas, so determined to make war on them and exterminate every single one of them personally from her household. To this end, she had a special miniature cannon built, 4 inches in length, and packed it with tiny cannonballs. Every time she saw a flea, she aimed her tiny cannon at it and fired, sometimes hitting them but, more often missing the little pests who seemed to jump around a bit. After she passed on in 1689, this Lilyputian cannon went permanantly on exhibit, in the Stockholm Arsenal, while the fleas now run free. From the tiny fleas, to, in comparison, the most gargantuan pigs. Many animal-specialists believe the barnyard pigs are the most maligned, mistreated animals on Earth. The pig is supposed to be the filthiest, most ...

A Kelly Klassic – Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard – It’s All Going to Pot – by Des Kelly Done, as they were getting older, and perhaps not too long before the late, great Haggard died on his 79th birthday, the song is precise in it’s calculations as regards this World, which, together with yet another kitchen utensil named after yet another famous illegal drug, is very certainly GOING TO POT. Enjoy the song that quite clearly shows how GOOD Country Music tells us about THE STORY IN SONG. Desmond Kelly. (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief).. e’Lanka. ...

Another Kelly-Klassic – Listening To The Wind ( Merle Haggard ) – by Des Kelly Not too many people did know that Merle Haggard, the ‘Late Master’ of Country Music, had an older brother named Fran and the two siblings had ‘fallen-out’ for reasons unknown, but Fran had passed-on, and around a year later Merle decided to write and dedicate this song to his older brother and “Listening to the wind” was then privately recorded and, being a M.H.song, sung with so much feeling, it makes one wonder why siblings fall out at all. Please listen to, and enjoy yet another Kelly-Klassic, which it certainly is.  Desmond Kelly. (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief).  e’Lanka. ...

THE OLD ROMAN SOLDIER – by Des Kelly Erroneously claimed to be “Good-Friday”, when it should actually be the opposite, taking into consideration that this was the “Black-Friday” that a man called Jesus Christ was brutally treated, crowned with thorns, and dragged a heavy wooden cross to a hill on Calvary, only to have his hands and feet nailed to this cross and, if this wasn’t enough, have a spear driven into his side by a Roman Soldier, only to plead to his Father GOD in Heaven, saying “Father, forgive them, for they know not, what they do”. He then died there, on what I would have called “Bad-Friday”, to be carried and entombed by his Mother Mary, to miraculously rise again, on the following “Good-Sunday”, commonly known as “Easter-Sunday”. This is what we Roman Catholics were taught, and, this is what I believe implicitly, in. Contrary to what many ...

A KELLY KLASSIC – “THE MASTER AT WORK” – by Des Kelly Quite possibly THE BEST Country Artiste, ever. MERLE HAGGARD, is the Master at work in this KELLY-KLASSIC entitled “I knew, the moment I lost you”, dedicated quite possibly to one of the five women he married. The song shows Merle at his very best, a/Song-Writer, Singer, Fiddle-player, Guitarist, Band-leader, & Entertainer who sadly passed away on his 79th birthday. Desmond Kelly. “THE SRI LANKAN STORY” – by Des Kelly A special ‘thank you’ to Chris. Lawton OAM for this more recent travel documentary on ‘Ceylon then, Sri Lanka now. A most interesting ‘replay’ of what most of us have seen, in real life, until many of us had to leave very reluctantly, simply because of Government rules that made it impossible for us to reside there permanantly. If there are memories you wish to bring back, of the place we called ‘home’, then this IS the doco.,Chris.Lawton, Keith Bennett & myself suggest you watch. It is a great ‘piece of work’ so our thanks go out as well, to those who brought it out to us on-screen.   Desmond Kelly. (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief).  e’Lanka. ...

“THE TITLE TELLS THE TALE” – by Des Kelly In many ways, one of the most important videos that I’ve seen. Possibly saw this before and even published it on e’Lanka, BUT, this video, my friends really merits a double or triple view, so with due thanks to Paul Jennings & Keith Bennett, here it is folks, with your safety in mind.  Desmond Kelly. (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief).. e’Lanka. Firefighters recommend having a bottle of Coke in the refrigerator. This trick can save lives and lessen property damage. Your bottle of Coca Cola can get you out of the most complicated situations. Indeed, in case of attending to an early fire at home, not every household kitchen is equipped with an extinguisher at hand. To remedy this you can react almost immediately to prevent the fire spreading quickly in the house. Instead of wasting time fetching water and repeatedly flaming the flames, it is ...
