Sri Lanka to sell plots in Colombo Port City for bunkering: Minister   Source : dailymirror Sri Lanka is to sell four plots of land in Colombo Port City for an investor to establish a facility for bunkering, a Minister told journalists. Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation, Nimal Siripala de Silva said that they have also called for expression of interest to start an aviation fuel storage facility. The Minister added that providing fuel for ships and aircraft can play a big role in developing Sri Lanka’s economy, Xinhua news agency reported. Colombo Port City can bring in more than $5 billion as foreign direct investment in the first five years of operation, he said. While I am uncertain of the details of this “Sorry-Suburb”, I guess that it was a focal point from which Slaves were procured, to be the Servants of the rich and famous. It did come under the jurisdiction of Colombo 2, and quite possibly had some input into the building of “Elephant House” (the Slaves, I mean), a fairly large, but ordinary 1 storied building, taken over, and managed by the “Suddhas”, who served their customers with the best butter, cheese, puddings, eclairs, chocolates, etc., that we, in Colombo 4 (Bambalapitiya) couldn’t afford.       Yes, I remember Slave island and Elephant House very well, but look at the joint now.     Officially adds “Port City” reclaimed land to Colombo map Author:LBO Posted on July 24, 2019  Jul 24, 2019 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Minister for Megapolis and Western Province Development said the Ministry of Local Government will be tabling an act in parliament to add ‘Port City’ as part of the Divisional Secretary of Colombo. The new city will function as a special jurisdiction area with its own economic and commercial laws to facilitate operations of global multinational corporations. The completed city will have reclaimed 269 hectares with 116 hectares being handed over to China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), which is the parent company of China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC).
