Confusing vaccine efficacy-what does it mean to a lay person?-Dr. Harold Gunatillake “The vaccine trials with so many people dying with the Coronavirus, have been nothing short of a miracle.” There is some confusion in the interpretation of a vaccine when it is said the efficacy is 95%. The last ride of a Jesuit Priest – By B. Nimal Veerasingham Greater welfare depends on our Individual and collective actions! Source: Island We are currently in the cautious process of passing through an unpredictable portion of our life journey. Like time-travelling through an eclipse, our trekking is through an unchartered territory, where Coronavirus is driving the agenda while people are readjusting their lives accordingly. Science has advanced so much for the better – it tells us how to reduce the impact of this contagious disease, or to protect ourselves from becoming victims. Almost 100 years ago, things were not the same. Humanity, it is said, has advanced in every scope and spectrum, within the last 50 years, in rapidity, as compared to the 500 years before that period. Between 1918 and 1920, almost a third of the world population; that is nearly 500 million people got infected with the deadly influenza pandemic, ...

“A, B, C, & D VIRUS IS ON THE WAY” – By Des Kelly Alphabetically speaking, we will now have to concoct yet another one-word description for the above, because we’re sick & tired of hearing by-names like Coronavirus, Covid, Catastrophic, Unprecedented, & many other12 & 13 letter adjectives that seem to be around, ad-nauseam.           We will not be able to blame anyone for this particular Virus. It will certainly not be exclusively antagonistic in Victoria. Everyone over a certain age will cop it, no matter where they live. There are no vaccines pre-planned, as they are still working on one for the present Pandemic.    ...

Noel News – By Noel Whittaker We gain the strength of the temptation we resist. RALPH WALDO EMERSON Welcome to our seventh newsletter of the year. It’s hard to believe that June 30th is already a memory, and we are now in July speeding towards December. I guess the big surprise since I last wrote to you is the situation in Victoria – all the indications are that it will get worse before it gets better. You may recall that many of the stimulus measures were supposed to finish in September but now look like being extended. I’m particularly concerned about homeowners who have taken the six months loan holiday with the result that interest is being capitalised on their mortgage. Unless they have the ...
