She is super excited as she assists the team in the final preparations. Honoring The Legend Desmond De Silva” Event on February 11th 2023. As promised we have spent some months working through tough visa processes for our impressive Frontline in the much awaited “Honouring The Legend Desmond De Silva” Event on February 11th 2023. The program for the event is in two parts. The first half will be a Tribute style concert to honour the Legend Desmond De Silva. Senior Artistes who have performed with Desmond or shared the stage with him will perform songs from Desmond’s own song list. They will be backed by Desmond’s own band ‘The Impressions’ and will be enhanced by other senior musicians who will join on stage to compliment and enrich the musical backing. The concert will fittingly conclude with a poignant song, performed by all artistes with visual imagery that will pay homage to Desmond. The second half of the event will be after dinner. ...

Launch of Desmond De Silva Website – By Phyllis De Silva This has been a long time coming!  Desmond & I have discussed having a website for his body of work as part of his legacy.  A lot of discussion and ideas were swapped but our busy lifestyle of constant travel and living out of suitcases meant this was yet another thing put on the ‘back burner’.  We had plenty of time during 2020/2021 to get it off the ground but we opted to take a break from work and just enjoy our home and garden and hanging out with each other. The Legend Desmond De Silva is honoured on the King & I Casey Radio 97.7 FM Corinne & Ian hosts of the “King & I” Program on Casey Radio 97.7FM paid tribute to Desmond De Silva to mark 3 months passing of Sri Lanka’s popular & Iconic Legend.  The tribute was on their show on Friday 22nd April.  A link to the Tribute is Corinne & Ian are consummate professionals who love their service to the community through their 2 hour program every Friday night between 8- 10 pm.  ‘What inspired them to host this program’ I asked of Corinne and here is their story. Legendary Singer Desmond de Silva Passes Away   Source:Brisbane 4EB Sri Lankan Newsletter – Dæhæna – february 2022 Veteran Sri Lankan singer and entertainer Desmond De Silva passed away at the age of 77 in Melbourne, Australia. He had reportedly passed away due to a sudden heart attack. Regarded as the ‘King of Baila’, the legendary singer was born in Matara in 1944. He launched his career in popular music in 1963 as the lead vocalist of the Fire-Flies. He also performed with leading Sri Lankan pop groups – ‘Spitfires,’ ‘Gabo and the Breakaways,’ and the ‘Jetliners.’ In 1976, he decided to form his own band, “Desmond and the Clan”, which performed in various countries in Southeast Asia, including the Maldives.
