“BEAUTIFUL BAILA” – by Des Kelly This was sent to me by my brother Ian who now lives permanantly in Sri Lanka. He has always known about my taste in music and it is without hesitation that this video goes straight into my Kelly Klassics. I have watched many Lankan Artistes backed up by this band & a guy named ‘Subasinghe’ who is himself ‘a Star’ as far as I am concerned, and this particular ‘group’ of Musos are, or were, the BEST, by far, as far as I am concerned, and the Vocalist Keerthi Pasquel has always been my favourite ‘Singing Star’ of Sri Lanka. In addition, he is one of the very best ‘Ambassadors’ of Music from Lanka. I met him many years ago when he came to Melbourne, and, although he didn’t speak too much English at the time, struck me as a humble, easy-going individual who ...

”THE WINNER” – by Des Kelly I had never seen an L/P (Cover) that described it’s entire contents so thoroughly, stating that Bobby Bare sings Lullabys, Legends, and Lies, but because I rather liked Bobby’s rendition of certain songs, decided to include one of my favourites on KELLY-KLASSICS. This Country song is, once again, different from the usual love songs, happy & sad, & a variety of other stories, heard by Country-Music fans all over the World. I chose this song because It tells the story of a “Winner” and, at the moment, we do need a few of them. Do not take too much notice of the singing capabilities of Bobby Bare, but boy !!, can he tell a story. Please listen to this song which tells us that “winning” is not everything, it usually comes at a cost. Bobby Bare tells it beautifully.   Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka. ...

Another Kelly Klassic – “Amy Grant – Look at Us” by Des Kelly   Definitely one of my favourites. A beautiful Country Song sung by Vince Gill to his wife, (Watch Amy Grant, she’s beautiful too), so I decided to do my own “cover” BUT had to sing it an octave lower, cos Vince sings it in a key, impossible for most male vocalists. Anyway, please watch one of the very best “Kelly-Klassics” ever. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka.  ...

“IN A NUTSHELL” – by Des Kelly   A special input for e’.Lanka., interesting facts (in brief), will be publicised regularly for thousands of avid readers of our website, simply to give them something to think about, just as “Kelly-Klassics” gives them something to reminisce  about………. IN A NUTSHELL, Judy Garland, World famous Singer and Actress, who was born in 1922 would have been 100 years old, today, had she not passed away in 1969. To Heidi, with love – by Des Kelly She is known as “The Scandinavian Queen Of Country”. This song has been recorded & released by at least half a dozen different “Stars” of Country Music, yet this, in my opinion, is the BEST version. Heidi Hauge has her own unique accent which comes through, as she sings, BUT, if you listen to this version of a great song, you WILL want to hear it again & yet again. This is why it is ” A KELLY-KLASSIC”. Please listen to Heidi with love. More Kelly Klassics to follow. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’ Lanka.  ...

“A KELLY KLASSIC” – by Heidi Hague- “Some broken hearts never mend” – By Des Kelly   Another great song from this Skandinavian Country Queen that I now love. Had never seen her before, but now I cannot seem to get over her singing, her accent, and the songs she sings, plus the fact that she is beautiful as well. HEIDI HAGUE will make an appearance on e’Lanka on my KELLY KLASSICS more often, as I feel that our Members will be only too happy to see her. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka. ...
