DESMOND KELLY

“Kelly Klassic” Borrowed Angel – by Des Kelly Written and recorded in 1972 by Mel.Street, we now have a positive reason as to why Country Music will never die. Singing this song that tells a story, that happens all around the World, a youngster in Country Music, by the name of Mo Pitney, comes clean on his Borrowed Angel. Pitney was a keen follower of Stars such as Merle Haggard and George Jones, and, like them, vocalises brilliantly, where every lyric can be heard very clearly. Like other members of e’Lanka, who do enjoy this type of music, all I can say, is “Lets go, with Mo Pitney”. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’ Lanka.  ...

“Willie Nelson – It’s Hard to Be Humble” – by Des Kelly Another Kelly-Klassic. Willie Nelson (will he or won’t he)?, one of the last remaining Country Greats, sings a song that proves he is not only good at what he does, he provides a much needed chuckle from those who are backing him, as he sings & plays his old, beat-up acoustic guitar which he named Trigger, and stores, in a well guarded bank, because, believe it or not, it was bought in 1969 for $450, but is presently worth close to $10.000, being the personal property of the great Willie Nelson, himself. Willie Nelson is the only Vocalist I know, that can sing, completely out of musical cadence, and yet correct this, to finish his song in perfect rhythm. He is also a superb guutarist, and I feel sure that our e’Lanka members will love this one. He ...

To Heidi, with love – by Des Kelly She is known as “The Scandinavian Queen Of Country”. This song has been recorded & released by at least half a dozen different “Stars” of Country Music, yet this, in my opinion, is the BEST version. Heidi Hauge has her own unique accent which comes through, as she sings, BUT, if you listen to this version of a great song, you WILL want to hear it again & yet again. This is why it is ” A KELLY-KLASSIC”. Please listen to Heidi with love. More Kelly Klassics to follow. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’ Lanka.  ...

“FAITH CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS” A phrase that does REACH up into the highest mountains, and this is why there is so much truth in the saying. As I have said and written time and time again, I was born and baptised a Roman Catholic, bred and educated, the same, did NOT live by some of it’s strict rules however, in not  attending Church regularly etcetera, but still believe implicitly in the fact that “GOD IS”. This “Post”, via Alan Benson & Keith Bennett might well be a repeat, yet well worth another, simply due to the fact that if you do wish to move a mountain from one place to another, you do need absolute faith that you could manage this, or else the mountain will remain annoyingly static. ...

“JUDGES OF CEYLON” – by Des Kelly There were many of these recognised highly intelligent individvuals indeed, in beautiful “Olde Ceylon” as I always prefer to remember this little Country in which I was born. Michael Roberts, yet another famous name from Ceylon then, & Sri Lanka now, is who I would term a Burgher- Blogger, has kindly decided to send me this most interesting “post” regarding Judge Leonard Woolf who dispersed justice, as he saw it, for the betterment of everyone in the Land that he too, loved. Thank you, Michael. I am sure that e’ Lanka would be very proud to publish what you have sent me. This also gives me the chance to make it very clear that e’ Lanka tends to steer CLEAR of articles too involved in Politics and Religion, two subjects that could cause more trouble and strife, than we really need in our ...

“PHOTOGRAPHIC PHENOMENA” – by Des Kelly   Two simple words that tell the story. These days, with photographic equipment readily available even on the tiniest mobile telephones that seem to be part and parcel of what everyone carries around with them, there is no need whatsoever of cameras one used to see, not too long ago. Photographs can now be produced with lightning speed by simply pressing your finger lightly on the correct spot on your “mobile”, and dozens of photos from various angles can be taken in about a minute. ...

“DBU DEBUT” – by Des Kelly For what it is worth, firstly, my grateful thanks to Anne Williams who always “posts” some very interesting subjects worthy of even more perusal than normal, this one, about Dutch & Portugese Burghers combined. Secondly, the “emblem” connected with her story fascinated me, and I would love to have a copy of it, especially drawn for a photo-gallery on my ipad. Therefore, a “bcc” copy of this particular story goes out to my friend & yours, Maxwell Gerreyn, who, like Anne, myself, and many others are of extremely doubtful Ancestry qualifications. As the Editor of this superb website for Lankan Patriots everywhere, E’LANKA”, I am sure that I have encouraged all my Lankan friends (including Anne Williams) to become members, if only to read all this interesting stuff that comes up, from time to time. This time, once again, it’s all about “Burgher-Buggers”, and ...

“BEAUTIFUL BIRDS” Thanks to Alan & Margaret Benson, and not forgetting one of the main sources of info.-e’ Lanka, Keith Bennett, here is something that hardly needs an introduction. The beauty of birds, is a welcome change to lots of other videos going around today. In my humble opinion, Scientists in general can say anything they like about our Universe and what exists in it, they can opt to describe Earth’s wildlife any way they might want to, but only GOD would be able to enhance these smaller winged creatures that we call birds. This fascinating video says it all, so now let us have a long look at the magnificent colours they wear, so naturally, & rejoice in what the ALMIGHTY has given us for our viewing pleasure. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’ Lanka. ...
