Co-ordinated by FSOQ., this Federation of Sri Lankan Clubs in Brisbane puts on a fabulous expression of Sri Lanka’s place in multicultural Australian Society. Led and organised by Ranjan and Namal Wijeratne and with Gerard Fernando and Shirley Don at the helm of the cooking, Silver Fawn’s menu was Stringhoppers with chicken curry, potato curry and pol sambol, a snack pack of samosa and patties and Iced Coffee. The sold out sign was quick to go up on the Iced Coffee, soon followed by the snack pack. The mountain of Stringhoppers sold out at the death. They go out of their way to do what they can for the community and Sri Lanka. The Foundation is famous for many things, one of which is their Sri Lanka Day Expo and Parade held on the route of the famous Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA. Thousands of Sri Lankans lined the streets of Pasadena to watch the parade with pride in the past. Due to Covid, the Foundation has not been able to organize this annual celebration. NEWSLETTER The Federation of Sri Lankan Organisations in Queensland will be organising a Sri Lanka Day on November 13th. Sri Lanka Society will be running the Hopper Stall on the day. Please come and visit us and enjoy a delicious Hopper feed! There will also be cultural dances and music throughout the day. The students from the SLSQ Dance Academy will also dance at this event along with many other dancers. The profit from our Hopper stall will be sent to Sri Lanka to support the ‘Nilgiri Aaranya Senasanaya’ in Moragollagama, to distribute packs of dry rations to people in need during this difficult period.
