Sri Lanka Day at River Rocks Park was a cultural and culinary feast on Sunday September 11. Co-ordinated by FSOQ., this Federation of Sri Lankan Clubs in Brisbane puts on a fabulous expression of Sri Lanka’s place in multicultural Australian Society.

Led and organised by Ranjan and Namal Wijeratne and with Gerard Fernando and Shirley Don at the helm of the cooking, Silver Fawn’s menu was Stringhoppers with chicken curry, potato curry and pol sambol, a snack pack of samosa and patties and Iced Coffee. The sold out sign was quick to go up on the Iced Coffee, soon followed by the snack pack. The mountain of Stringhoppers sold out at the death.

It was testament to the commitment of our Committee plus Tammi Dissanayake that EVERYONE was involved in the prep of the food in a marathon Saturday cook up and EVERYONE worked together on Sunday to get through a mountain of work to enhance our coffers. What a Team! ‘Twas interesting to see the marketing techniques of our Committee Touters as they creatively engaged passers-by in wheeling and dealing things stringhoppers!
