A Kelly Klassic – Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard – It’s All Going to Pot – by Des Kelly Done, as they were getting older, and perhaps not too long before the late, great Haggard died on his 79th birthday, the song is precise in it’s calculations as regards this World, which, together with yet another kitchen utensil named after yet another famous illegal drug, is very certainly GOING TO POT. Enjoy the song that quite clearly shows how GOOD Country Music tells us about THE STORY IN SONG. Desmond Kelly. (Mr.Music) (Editor-in-Chief).. e’Lanka. ...

“Willie Nelson – It’s Hard to Be Humble” – by Des Kelly Another Kelly-Klassic. Willie Nelson (will he or won’t he)?, one of the last remaining Country Greats, sings a song that proves he is not only good at what he does, he provides a much needed chuckle from those who are backing him, as he sings & plays his old, beat-up acoustic guitar which he named Trigger, and stores, in a well guarded bank, because, believe it or not, it was bought in 1969 for $450, but is presently worth close to $10.000, being the personal property of the great Willie Nelson, himself. Willie Nelson is the only Vocalist I know, that can sing, completely out of musical cadence, and yet correct this, to finish his song in perfect rhythm. He is also a superb guutarist, and I feel sure that our e’Lanka members will love this one. He ...

“WILLIE OR WON’T SHE” – by Des Kelly Another “KELLY KLASSIC” featuring another living legend of Country Music, whose name is in my title. He wrote the lyrics of this wonderful song which attracted me from it’s onset, that had Willie Nelson play his intro. on guitar, exactly as I once played my own instrument for so many memorable years, COUNTRY-STYLE. The song, called “You woudn’t cross the Street to say goodbye”, is strangely, akin to many such songs also written by this writer, songs which bring listeners like you, out there, memories of what took place sometimes, in your own lives. Enough said folks, please enjoy WILLIE NELSON in his own inimitable style.   Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief)  e’Lanka. ...

TO ALL THE DRUNKS OUT THERE – by Des Kelly   Sent out to me by an ex Royal Ceylon Navy friend of mine, reminding me of the good old days when we used to sometimes booze our heads off, when “on liberty”.  Drinking was part and parcel of our life in the Navy, but what we drank and how much, was anybody’s guess. Speaking only for myself, I did drink excessively at times. ...

“The ultimate Country love story” – By Des Kelly           He was a “Rock-Star” to begin with, singing and playing his guitar, backed by several guys who became “stars” in their own right, as the years went by. Waylon Jennings, a tall, handsome figure of a man, singing songs in a deep gravelly voice, was an attraction to many gals who attended his shows, who, in reverse, was also attracted to many pretty girls, married three, even becoming a dad, in the process, was then picked out by guitar great, Chet Atkins, who was convinced that this guy would make a superb Country Entertainer, who, not much later, founded the “Outlaw” movement  & together with Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, &  Willie Nelson, began touring and entertaining thousands of Country music fans, wherever they went. A beautiful female by the name of Jessie Colter, now comes into ...

“WILLIE NELSON” Facts & Figures by Desmond Kelly Willie Nelson, the name is so well-known, the media in L.A. (not the real ones, but of course, as Donald Trump calls them, “the fake ones”), seem to have nothing better to do, so they are “killing-off” “legends” & Willie is the latest, (oh, my humble apologies), Willie is NOT really “dead” yet, but the news is out that he now wants everybody out there to pray for him, because he is now on the cusp of eternity, & very soon, another “chosen” Undertaker from Los Angeles will be making much more money covering the Willie Nelson funeral. This is one of the “brighter” starts to my stories Definitely one of the “best businesses” to be in folks, as people all over the World “die, to come to you”. The facts & figures right at this moment are these. Willie Nelson is.not dead (yet) however, ...
