THE CLOSENESS OF RESPECT, COURTESY & DISCIPLINE. – By Noor Rahim   Respect is a word that was inculcated into our lives Encompassing mutual regards for each others’ esteem & feelings And as the age old saying goes You have to give respect to get respect in all aspects   It starts off from within the family circles Extending to the elders, friends and acquaintances Be it through greetings, compliments, appreciation or regards Your act should always be one of human feelings for others   Courtesy is synonymous with respect for others Conveying a sense of feeling and sincere understandings It’s an act of being civil, polite and graciousness Remembering that saying of Courtesy begets Courtesy in our lives   But times have really changed from the good old ages Respect for others seem to be on the wane and so it appears And so has courtesy the twin of ...

The Might of the Pen. – By Noor Rahim “The pen is mightier than the sword” is the saying Stifling of the Pen can cause a populace swing But the effect may only be temporary and for political gaining And when truth comes along; lead to populace awakening The cumulative effect can be far reaching “An Army marches on its’ stomach” is a Napoleonic saying It’s true for an Army as it is for the peoples’ well being Hence the stomach becomes the centre of homing No doubt an empty stomach will create problems that’s disturbing The Pen is like the “Scale of Justice” that needs “Just” balancing We do not need the Pen to be a “Sword of Damocles” dangling Above the head of a population and threatening The Pen must in all circumstances be just and well meaning One must remember that a Pen filled with venomous inkling ...

The Four Points of the Compass. – By Noor Rahim North; South; East & West Are just directions on a map or the Atlas But to the Human Beings living It should not invoke a feeling That one is better than the rest But to live in Harmony & Trust Cultivating the concept of Peaceful Living With the blending of Race; Culture and Understanding Rather than trying to prove who is the best For this invokes jealousies and contempt Much to the deterrent of the living And the creation of Animosity among all beings There’s nothing to say who the Best is For the Good Lord made us equal to the test But Humans got lured into the ways of greed & segregation so sadly That we lost the sense of equality and peaceful living Noor Rahim September 05, 2015 ...

A Compilation of the Advent of Flight. – By Group Captain Noor Rahim (RCyAF – Retd.) As Homo sapiens became wiser and started using their faculty of thinking – their brain; they made one of the greatest discoveries in the form of the “wheel”.  They soon mastered the use of the wheel; and ground transportation was made easier, faster and much more comfortable than riding on animals and being carried in palanquins as hitherto practiced. In the meantime he had used the waterways for transportation by the use of rafts, boats, barges etc. Thus he had experienced and succeeded travelling in 2 dimensions – Length and breadth of the land. Thereby the concept of conquering the third dimension (Space) was born. We will never ...

Cricket – A game for the Handicapped? – By Noor R. Rahim   Travelling from the Airport to their Beach Hotel two Elderly American ladies saw many people gathered around radios and Television Sets enroute to their Hotel. The crowds were very vociferous with dancing, flag waving and generally appearing happy in a carnival like atmosphere. Once at the Hotel they enquired if there was a Festival being celebrated as they had seen people on the road making merry. The receptionist explained that today was the “Final Test Cricket Match” against the visitors from “down under”. With a win today we would sweep them away and “bury” them, as we had won two of the three already. The festive mood in the streets is because we have already won the series. After refreshing themselves they strolled out to the Beach Cabana with their drinks and Transistor Radio to take in ...
