Lessons from the Bees, Butterflies, Insects & Birds. – By Noor Rahim The Meteorological Department forecast indicated that the weather was going to be a gorgeous one. So I ventured out with much anticipation and elation; only to be greeted with a blast of extremely hot air. So, my first reaction, was to beat a hasty retreat into the cool environment of my Home. Arming myself with a large thirst quenching cooled drink I decided to sit on the porch in my favourite armchair; surrounded by the cool shade of the trees that abound my Home. Seated did I see the periodic ruffling of the leaves and swaying of the branches on the many trees that surrounds. This heralds the onset of a gentle breeze and more so the cooling of the hot air in its aftermath. The pleasure of the cooled breeze extends so much of relief. Very soon ...

Memories of Yore – By Noor Rahim There I was sitting comfortably in my recliner With my eyelids almost drooping and ready to close When I got jolted out of my reverie By the daunting “tick-tock” of the clock that did stir Watched the seconds turn to minutes And the minutes no doubt turns to hours; and the hours to days The years too just slides away as only you know how You wonder how they all passed without in as much as an adieu Leaving behind memories of the yester year; in its’ journey One can only re-live the past that went by, so quickly Making one forlorn and submerged in past memories With the deeds of yore, be it good or bad; and the aftermath worry The good is always very easy to enjoy and savour But the bad make some feel guilty of deeds of misdemeanours Unfortunately ...

The Boast of Multi-Culturalism – Is it Reality or Fallacy? – By Noor Rahim Presently there is a boast & toast among a few of the leading Western Countries that appear to be falling over each other in their boast of a truly Multi-Cultural Society aka Multi Ethnic Society. But if one should really trace the advent of Multi-Culturalism one would be amazed at the fact that this concept was rampant way back from the days of yore; and though not the boast of a Nation but were subtly enmeshed in a Nations social fabric without any rant or rave. Strangely enough this was the accepted norm in the 3rd World – so to say. So one must wonder; if the present day boast of a Multi-Cultural Society is more of a Political Boast to garner Political “Clout”; with the Immigrant populace or for reasons otherwise. If one only reminisces ...

The Catastrophes that plagues “The Resplendent Isle”- by Noor Rahim   As the human race becomes wiser; with the advancement in the Technical & Medical fields, one would expect to live a life sans the catastrophes that we are faced with currently – on such a regular and devastating basis. The result of such disasters are inconceivable; and appear to be threatening humanity and Mother Earth with such deadly impact and so regularly. Not a day goes by without one hearing of such disasters occurring in some part of the World today – Be it environment, diseases, spiritual, political or moral decay. Most of them being self-inflicted or the product of mankind, in the quest of satisfying their “material greed”. The question that one must ask or seek answers to is – “Are we individually or collectively responsible or are we subscribing to these debacles/mayhem, that we face today?” In ...

Expressions in the Subway – by Noor R. Rahim For want of something to do or ponder My eyes stray around the subway coach There’s nothing of note or topic for search There’s only the screech of metal that tears the silence asunder   But, you can sure see the expressions on the face of the commuter Some pleasant, some defiant and a few boorish It’s just a potpourri of masks that make the dish But all in all it makes you wonder   Why do some look grumpy and some grumpier? Yet some with a look of no approach Unless you wish to seek their wrath Then go ahead and make the blunder   To find a happy face is so much harder For the one you seek is not always a cinch It’s just a baby in its mother’s clutch Giving you a smile that’s a clincher Yet ...

Why Don’t You Pause a Moment – To Stand & Stare, With Me? – By Noor Rahim   Please do give a few moments of your precious time; and join me as I stand and stare, at Mother Natures’ Wonders – just for the asking and absolutely free of costs or encumbrances. Yes, one does understand that one’s life is so full of tasks, arduous and onerous, that one needs to undertake and complete, in a World that deems it so, for ones’ livelihood and family commitments – though at times these commitments are confined to the immediate family circles. Hence, time is of the essence and one does not have a spare moment to “Stand & Stare” – perhaps only at the two-legged gentry that may pass your way. All else being of little or no value; unless of course it is to one’s advantage and future utilization – ...
