Sri Lanka’s inflation, as measured by the change in the Colombo Consumers’ Price Index (CCPI) declined to 50.6 percent in February 2023 from 51.7 percent in January, the Department of Census and Statistics reported Tuesday. The CCPI for all items for the month of February 2023 marginally increased to 189.5 from 188.6 in January. The Year on Year inflation of Food Group decreased to 54.4 percent in February from 60.0 percent in January and the Year on Year inflation of Non Food Group increased to 48.8 percent in February 2023 from 47.9 percent in the previous month. For the month of February 2023, on year‐to‐year basis, contribution to inflation by food commodities was 17.23 percent and the contribution of Non Food items was 33.36 percent.
