Sri Lanka Sports Association’s 14th Anniversary Dinner Dance on 21st May 2022 (Brisbane event) The Sri Lanka Sports Association of Queensland Inc. (SLSAQ) is holding its 14th Anniversary Dinner Dance with the reputed Sri Lanka’s Premier Dance Band “Misty” flown down from Sri Lanka. This Dance will be at the Souths Sports Club Function Room, 142-174 Mortimer Road, Acacia Ridge, Qld 4110 on Saturday 21st May 2022. The dance will commence at 0630 pm and conclude at 1200 am due to venue restrictions. The Sri Lanka Sports Association of Queensland Inc. (SLSAQ) comprises a number of sports enthusiasts who have come together in an entirely honorary capacity, with the primary purpose of raising funds for the Annual Cricket Carnival and the Golf Tournament in Brisbane. Silver Fawn Club (Brisbane) – REPORT ON THE 49TH ANNIVERSARY DANCE The Silver Fawn Club’s 49th Anniversary Dinner Dance was held on Saturday, 29thJune at the Souths Sports Club, Acacia Ridge. This year things were done a bit differently and the Dance was held in a lovely venue on the South side with a band from Sydney and our debonair DJ Dennis in action. The hall was decorated in a Red and Silver theme with help from the Tucker family, Loos family, Weerasinghe family, our Treasurer, Susan and Ovil de Franz and I must say it did look magnificent with the tiny sparkles lighting up the ribbons to the balloons. We had 150 people registered to attend the dance. Unfortunately, not many of the older Club members were able to attend. However, it was great to see some new members and plenty of guests. REPORT ON SATURDAY NITE FEVER DINNER DANCE – 8TH SEPTEMBER It was a stylish and full of energy function we had for a long time. The enthusiastic crowd was keen to get on to the floor and dance the night away to some lovely music produced by the equally energetic Duo and DJ. We have had some “Duos” before but these guys did some extraordinary stuff on Stage that got everybody laughing and giggling while dancing. Yes, that’s what makes one Band different from the other. The Duo ” The Lovely Daze ” didn’t just produce music they acted the part too. They did some things that was visually hilarious and most entertaining. For instance, the vocalist took over the Saxophone interlude and pretended he was playing the saxophone to such a perfect tempo that he was bending his knees and crawling to the ground just the way you see ...
