Happy Father’s Day – By Noor Rahim My Dad is my tutor and mentor Be it helping me on the computer Or in my math and grammar Regardless of day or time he’ll help me without a murmur   He finds a lot of time to help me in my leisure Takes me out to the movies – which is such a pleasure And plays outside in the garden until the sun is a-goner That’s my Dad; he is such a do-gooder   My Dad is also a preacher Teaching me the good in life & to be a believer In sickness he gives me succour Until I am back on my feet; feeling like a warrior   Today’s a day that you would sit & wonder Am I getting younger or older? But remember Dad that I’m your greatest admirer And shall remain ever-loving now & forever   “Happy ...

Words of Sympathy.- By Noor Rahim In Memoriam  Dear Dr. Harold, Words of Sympathy can never replace a loss The loss of a loved one, who’s loved so much Words of Sympathy can only console one’s sorrow, as such At a time that one needs strength & courage to overcome the loss One can only find solace In the word of the Good Lord He’s our Creator and to Him do we belong Time is the healer, but happy memories are the final solace Noor Rahim June 30, 2023 ...

“THE AGE OF INNOCENCE & THENCE-FORTH”. – By Noor Rahim As is my routine, in retired life; I sit relaxed on the porch and watch the clouds roll by. For want of something better to do, my mind as usual, wanders into the “reminiscing mode”. Reversing right back into the past; and thence-forth back again into the “comparison mode”, to that of the present day experiences. I feel lucky and very fortunate indeed that I was born 8 and a half decades ago; when the “Age of Innocence” was a fact and ruled the roost. In comparison I find and lament, that this is hardly so in the present days. I now wonder in amazement if the “Age of Innocence” is almost fictional or just one of those periods that has phased away with time. The only exception I believe is in the “eyes of the Law” where it is ...

The Might of the Pen. – By Noor Rahim “The pen is mightier than the sword” is the saying Stifling of the Pen can cause a populace swing But the effect may only be temporary and for political gaining And when truth comes along; lead to populace awakening The cumulative effect can be far reaching “An Army marches on its’ stomach” is a Napoleonic saying It’s true for an Army as it is for the peoples’ well being Hence the stomach becomes the centre of homing No doubt an empty stomach will create problems that’s disturbing The Pen is like the “Scale of Justice” that needs “Just” balancing We do not need the Pen to be a “Sword of Damocles” dangling Above the head of a population and threatening The Pen must in all circumstances be just and well meaning One must remember that a Pen filled with venomous inkling ...
