The World in Turmoil – Ecologically; Spiritually; Economically; and Politically – by Noor Rahim The World is no more a Garden of Eden. One would have thought that with the advancement of knowledge and Technology it would be “Heaven on Earth”; but alas! It appears that we are far from it. Perhaps to those who have amassed wealth more than they will ever be able to spend themselves, in a life-time, it may be so. But to the ordinary folk it is a “day to day” scenario in life; with no time to see if it is Heaven or Earth.  Ecologically; spiritually; economically and politically we seem to be edging closer and closer to the dreaded “Point of No Return” – that is if it is not too late already! The solution to these impending disasters does not lie directly on the masses, but on the shoulders of Governments (elected ...

Is Mankind Emulating the Arctic Rodent- The Lemmings? It is almost a lapse of two years since I visited a large Shopping Mall in my area. At the insistence of my family I, rather reluctantly, joined them on their sojourn on the weekend. Not that I “anti” going to the Mall; but at my age there is no meaningful necessity. As the saying goes – “I have seen it all; and I have done it all”. But with the weather getting colder and hampering my constitutional evening walks, I got lured to accompany them; as they dangled a carrot in my face and said – you need to go for a walk, it’s good for your health. With the raging Corona Pandemic I was sceptical to go into a gathering of many people. But I did venture out with a nagging and rather irritating face mask that often “misted up” ...

Memories of Yore – By Noor Rahim There I was sitting comfortably in my recliner With my eyelids almost drooping and ready to close When I got jolted out of my reverie By the daunting “tick-tock” of the clock that did stir   Watched the seconds turn to minutes And the minutes no doubt turns to hours; and the hours to days The years too just slides away as only you know how You wonder how they all passed without in as much as an adieu   Leaving behind memories of the yester year; in its’ journey One can only re-live the past that went by, so quickly Making one forlorn and submerged in past memories With the deeds of yore, be it good or bad; and the aftermath worry   The good is always very easy to enjoy and savour But the bad make some feel guilty of deeds ...

“The Certain Nip in the Air” By Noor Rahim One can feel the nip in the air; as the days are now getting cooler; making it so pleasant to sit outside. The birds appear to have all flown away to warmer climes and the absence of the squirrels is apparent; as it is certain that they are too busy making their nests or abodes to keep the warmth during the foreseen much colder days that appear to be imminent. You do see the bee population extremely busy gathering all the honey they could from whatever flower that remain. Those bountiful, colourful and magnificent creation of Mother Nature is now on the wane. Most of it wilted and withered and the petals lying forlorn on the surround grounds around it. But fret not; as they create compost for the future growth – a magnificent and marvellous concept of Mother Nature to keep ...
